Sew Sweetness dot-dot-dash-bag pattern tester

I follow this wonderful sewing blog written by Sara called Sew Sweetness. She posted that we was looking for bag pattern testers and asked if there was anyone interested. Given my obsession with sewing bags I responded right away. I was sent the pattern and started the process. The pattern was really easy to follow. I must say I was a little intimidated in making a purse that had 6 zippers!! But I was surprised at how easy it was and how nicely it all came together.

For the bag I used Pat Bravo Hyperreal Garden - Lush Foliage in Plum for the main fabric and the contrast fabric was Illusion in Cashmere.

Go check out the pattern at Sew Sweetness. Dot-dot-dash-bag.

It was a great experience!!

Sassy Cheryl's challenge

I just started using digi's and found Sassy Cheryl's site. They do a weekly challenge so I figured I would give it a try this week. The theme this week was Pink!

I used the Father's Day bear digi for this challenge.

And here is a close up of the bear:

Isn't he cute!!!

Card

When I was at Lens Mills I found this stamp with a cupcake and the "You're so sweet" saying and thought it would be perfect for a card.

Here is how it turned out.

Not bad for 99 cents!!

13 in 13

So, after much thought I have come up with the 13 things I want to complete in 2013. After doing this in 2012 I realized that I had set the bar way too high! Come on, 12 quilts!! I was able to complete 4 quilts which is pretty freaking awesome!! I tried to make the 13 goals achievable and things I really want to achieve. Here they are:

1. Spend less

2. Work out 3 times/week

3. Make the Joel Dewberry skirt pattern I have had for over a year

4. Write in my journal regularly

5. Finish the two quilts that are partially complete

6 .Make something with knit fabric- I have always been afraid to work with knits

7. Try one new recipe a month

8. Make the Amy Butler Weekender bag

9. Do three online classes

10. Read 4 books

11. Go out to dinner and movie four times in the year

12. Make 4 cards with Digi's

13. Get published in a magazine!!

So, there they are! Now I need to dust off the treadmill so that I can get started!!

Here's to 2013!!

Zippered box pouch

I wanted to make a makeup bag so went  searching the internet and came across a tutorial on Pretty Modern.

\The fabric I used was by Art Gallery - Dreaming in French.

So started out with this and a few hours later - you have a makeup bag. So much fun!!

Scrapmuch weekly challenge

I was able to finish this weeks challenge at Scrapmuch really early as I have a few days off. What better way to spend it then scrapbooking.
After I took the picture and further reviewed the layout I saw that I forgot the word "you" in the journalling!! Now I know why I never journal!!
I used the Basic Grey Aspen Frost line for this layout.

Card kit

For Christmas, from my good friend Dianne, I received a beautiful card kit from a class she had done with Noel. The amount of detail that Noel puts into her work is remarkable. I was so thrilled with the final results. A little colouring and some glitter and these are now my favourite cards!

Snowman card

When I was looking at Carolyn's blog from Two Scrapbook friends and saw her snowman card I knew I wanted to try it.

So, I went and purchased the digital file from Sassy Cheryl's Digi and started colouring. It has been quite a while since I have coloured and now I remember how much fun it is!

I was pretty happy with the final results.

First layout of the year

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be able to scrapbook and finish my first layout of 2013.

Today I set up my new laptop so now I am cropping pictures and uploading from the new laptop.

This might make me very productive in 2013!!!

My first layout is called Christmas traditions. Title and poinsettia cut from Silhouette.

Our Christmas tradition (that we started two years ago!!) is to hide a pickle in the tree. Then whichever child finds the pickle gets an extra gift. We found this ornament while on vacation in Stratford and my daughter thought it was something we should start. That is how traditions begin!!
