The Park West Bag - Pattern Review for Sew Sweetness

I was able to complete a pattern review for Sara over at Sew Sweetness.

The pattern is called The Park West Bag. I love how it came together! Sara's directions are always easy to follow. I would say this is a bag for an experienced beginner or intermediate sewer.

I used Calypso Swing fabric from Free Spirit for this bag.

Go and check it out!

Purse Palooza 2013 - Amy Butler Beautiful Bella

Announcing Purse Palooza 2013!!

I am happy to be participating in Purse Palooza this year with a special purse sewing pattern review! Here's how the event works:

1. Every weekday from September 30th - October 25th, there are 2 amazing guest bloggers scheduled to share with you a purse sewing pattern review. None of the purses reviewed from the event last year are being reviewed again, so these will be fresh sewing pattern reviews! The review will contain detailed information about what I thought about the sewing pattern, modifications I made, what kind of interfacing I used, and more! Get inspired!

2. Even more exciting...THERE WILL BE A GIVEAWAY EVERY WEEKDAY DURING THE EVENT! That's right, 20 GIVEAWAYS!

3. At the end of the event, you will get a chance to show me your purse in order to win some amazing prizes! Of course, international entries are welcome too!

 Go check it out!!

So here is my pattern review for Purse Palooza.

I selected Amy Butler's Beautiful Bella bag. I love Amy Butler. I think it is because the very first bag I made was an Amy Butler pattern. I have made several other Amy bags since. I have to say not all of them were easy! The Weekender is actually on my list of bags to do this year but that was going to be way too big of a project for this! The good news is the Beautiful Bella bag was an easy one!! The instructions were easy to follow and made sense because there are pictures to go along with them ( I am a visual person so pictures are so helpful!).

I used the Poetica line from Art Gallery for my fabric.

The only alteration I made to the pattern was to make the handles longer. I did this by just laying down pattern piece down farther on fabric and extending lines to top to make  the extension.

I love the hidden cell phone pocket that Amy includes in a lot of her patterns! So cool!

I would recommend this bag for anyone who loves to sew bags. It was easy, came together quickly and will hold a ton of stuff!

Thanks for stopping by!
